As a real estate professional, you are required to obtain continuing education credits for license renewal every two years. Courses for license renewal credit must be approved by the Vermont Real Estate Commission.
It is the responsibility of Realtors® to track their continuing education credits. The Addison County Board of Realtors® does not track credits for members. Realtors® are required to keep copies or records of continuing education certificates. You are not required to submit these to the Vermont Real Estate Commission for license renewal, but you will be required to substantiate your credits if your business is audited.
All Vermont real estate licenses renew on a fixed 24-month schedule on even-numbered years. Brokers renew on March 31, and Salespersons renew on May 31. Applicants issued an initial license more than 90 days prior to the renewal date will still be required to renew and pay renewal fees.

Within 90 days from the issuance of an initial salesperson license, new licensees are required to take eight hours of instruction addressing topics specified by the Vermont Real Estate Commission related to the salesperson’s real estate practice. This is in addition to the 16 hours of continuing education required as a salesperson.
